Our Mission

The Airman and Family Readiness offers a wide range of military and family support, services and programs. Services offered include consultation services, deployment & family support, education and career assistance, financial services, retiree and Veteran services, etc. A&FRC’s overall goal is to create a sense of community and readiness for military members and their families.

  General Info

The A&FRC's core programs are Exceptional Family Member Program, Air Force Warrior & Survivor Care, Key Spouse, Personal & Family Readiness, Personal & Family Life Education, Personal Financial Management, Employment Assistance and Career Focus, Relocation Assistance, Transition Assistance Program, Volunteer Resources, Information and Referral and the Air Force Aid Society.

  Programs, Classes & Services

AIT/NPS Airmen Separate Rations Brief

10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the A&FRC Annex, Levitow, room 134. Mandatory for any AIT/NPS airman who would like to reside outside of the dormitories during technical training. Call 228-377-0155 to register.

Pre-Separation Counseling

9 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tuesdays for separatees and retirees. Call for specific dates/times. Registration is required to attend and ensure prerequisites are met prior to attending. 

Newcomer's Orientation & Info Fair

This free program is offered every month starting at 7:30 a.m. to all new to Keesler service members and spouses. Check out the A&FRC calendar for specific dates. Registration is done during in-processing or call for more information. 

Military & Family Life Counselors

Two trained professionals are here to listen and help service members and their family with issues such as marriage/relationship, parenting/sibling and family, deployment/reintegration, depression, grief/loss, and other concerns. Consultations are free and anonymous – no records are kept. For questions or to schedule an appointment, call 228-355-2065 or 228-355-2980.

Exceptional Family Member Program - Family Support

An EFMP-FS Coordinator is available to provide information and referral for special needs. Let us help you navigate the EFMP program to the best of your ability.

Financial Counseling

Private, one-on-one financial appointments are available for all active duty, retirees and DoD civilians.

Resume Review

Individual resumes are able to be reviewed for format/content. Please call to schedule a one-on-one consultation. Federal and private sector resume workshops are offered monthly. 

Transition Assistance Program (TAP)

Provides service members with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to empower them to make informed career decisions, be competitive in a global work force, and become positive contributors to their community as they transition from military service and reintegrate into civilian life through TAP. Available for families of deployed/TDY greater than 30 days & NPS Students who attend a financial counseling session.

Given to eligible attendees at Bundles for Babies.

  Employment Assistance

Employment supports military, civilians and family members in achieving short and long-term employment, by referring for education/training and portable careers in the private and public sectors. Services also include resources for self-employment, small business and entrepreneurial efforts, local labor market information, skills development workshops, and other on and off base resources.

Key Spouse

A Key Spouse is the face of unit leadership to families. A Key Spouse provides peer-to-peer wingman support, informs and refers family members. Caring for families on the home front allows the war fighter to focus on his/her mission at home and down range. To find out who your key spouse is, call the Airmen and Family Readiness Center at 228-376-8728.


Heart Link is an Air Force program designed to strengthen military families and enhance mission readiness by helping to orient new Air Force spouses (typically 5 years or less) to active duty military life. Child care for PCS benefit can be used in conjunction with Heartlink participation through the Air Force Aid Society. Visit your Airman & Family Readiness Center to learn more about how this program works.

Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Family Support (FS)

The Air Force’s Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is designed to provide support to military family members with special needs. EFMP is comprised of three components who work together to support military members and their families. EFMP enrollment is mandatory and required immediately upon identification of a special need. The required forms for enrollment are: DD Form 2792, Exceptional Family Member Medical Summary for medical issues only DD Form 2792-1, Exceptional Family Member Special Education/Early Intervention Summary for educational issues.

Military and Family Life Consultants (MFLC)

Military Family Life Consultants provide non-medical counseling addressing life skills such as anger management, conflict resolution, parenting, parent/child communication, relationship issues, and marriage enrichment; the military lifestyle, including deployment stress, reintegration, relocation adjustment, separation, coping skills, homesickness, and loss and grief. MFLC’s possess a master’s degree or Ph.D. and are located in the Airman & Family Readiness Center. Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Consultants (CYB-MFLC) are available to address deployment related stressors in children and are available through the CDC, School Age and Youth Centers. Readiness and Deployment

The A&FRC's mission is to offer pre-deployment, sustainment, and reintegration services that provide information, improve skills by fostering competencies and coping skills, and offer support and assistance that will help personnel and their families deal with the demands of the expeditionary military mission and their family responsibilities. To improve outreach to the Air Force community, in 1997 Airman & Family Readiness NCO positions were developed to assist A&FRC staff in managing the challenges of evacuations, emergencies, deployments and separations including TDYs and remote tours.

Casualty Assistance

An Airman & Family Readiness staff member is ready to assist members and ensure that their families are taken care of as expeditiously as possible in a family emergency.
