Our Mission

The mission of Air Force Child and Youth Programs (CYP) is to assist DoD military and civilian personnel in balancing the competing demands of the accomplishment of the DoD mission and family life through delivery of a system of quality, available and affordable programs and services for eligible children and youth birth through 18 years of age. 
  General Info

The Keesler Child Development Center (CDC) provides care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old (going into Kindergarten) in the Keesler community. The CDC strives to provide a play-based learning environment to help develop children in a safe and caring environment.

The Early Learning Matters curriculum, or ELM, was developed for use in Department of Defense CDCs and we have implemented it here at Keesler AFB!

ELM Information

Eligible patrons include:
  • Combat-related wounded warriors.
  • Active duty military personnel.
  • DoD APF/NAF civilian employees.
  • Reserve component military personnel on active duty or inactive duty training status.
  • Surviving spouses of military members who died from a combat-related incident.
  • Those acting in loco parentis for the dependent child of an otherwise eligible patron.
  • Eligible employees of DoD contractors.
  • Others authorized on a space available basis (retirees, AD personnel not assigned to the specific installation, and military with an unemployed spouse).

Full-Time Child Care

Parents are required to enroll through MilitaryChildCare.com, complete an enrollment package, and present proof of the child’s immunizations. For more information, call 228-377-2211.

Drop-in Child Care

Drop-in care is $5/hour. Slots are for all ages. Please call to check for age group availability. Reservations can be made up to 7 days. Parents are required to complete an enrollment package and present proof of the child’s immunizations. For more information, call 228-377-2211.

Give Parents a Break

GPAB is an Air Force Aid program that offers free childcare for ages 6 weeks to 12 years at the Youth and Child Development Centers for Air Force families referred by base helping agencies such as the Military & Family Readiness Center and Family Advocacy, as well as Chaplains, Commanders, and First Sergeants. Also eligible are family members of deployed AF military members. Space is limited. For more information, call 228-377-2211.

Parents Day/Night Out

A day or evening of child care for ages 6 weeks to 5 years for $25/child. No refunds for no-shows. To sign up, call 228-377-2211.

  Parent Advisory Board

All parents whose children are enrolled in CYP are a part of the PAB. The committee acts in an advisory capacity, providing recommendations for improving services. The committee is also responsible for developing the parent involvement plan for Child Development Center, School Age Care, and Family Child Care.
